Our City and Rural Letter Carriers will collect non-perishable food donations left in or on mailboxes and in post offices from their postal customers participating in the 14th Annual NALC National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation…. All citizens need to do is place a box or bag of non-perishable foods (peanut butter, dried goods, canned meats and vegetables, stews, soups, tuna, rice, cereal, paper products, attends, elderly drinks and infant formulas and foods not in glass) in or on their mailbox before their letter carrier delivers mail on Saturday, May 13th, 2006.

Lee and I would like to extend our most heartfelt congratulations to PDG Bob Breton and PDG Bevin Wall, recipients of the prestigious Rotary International Service Above Self Award…. There will be wonderful memories of the fellowship shared, of the excitement of the Kinston Indians baseball and shrimparoo, and of the entertainment provided by the cast of the Rotary Musical and our GSE Team on its way to Mexico.

Inbound Scholar from Bangladesh - Mohammad Aminul Karim This fall, Mohammad Aminul Karim will be coming to our district from Bangladesh as an Inbound Ambassadorial Scholar to study at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke working toward an MBA…. In planning the event, our goals were as follows: to demonstrate ways to enhance club quality, to meet your needs as expressed through the survey, and to show you how our district is connected with the world and encourage you to be a part of Rotary’s global village…. The dedicated Rotarians who plan and lead the program are Jimmie Autry from Jacksonville South, Janet Westerman and Pam Thomas of Jacksonville Breakfast, April Heath and Jim Hamilton of Jacksonville Rotary, PDG John Eller of Swansboro, and Joel Kane of New River-Onslow.

Rotary International Resource Groups RI President-elect Bill Boyd has asked the Governors for 2006-07 to appoint Resource Group Chairs for the Presidential Emphases Health and Hunger, Water Management, and Literacy…. Because of his generosity, the Rotary club will award scholarships every year totaling over $30,000 to eight Methodist College students nominated for their selfless giving (”Service Above Self”) and their high ethical values.
