Assistance needed for tornado disaster in Riegelwood
November 17th, 2006 in News« update on Tornado disaster in Riegelwood
Dear Rotary leaders,
A tornado struck Riegelwood NC in Area 4 early this morning killing five people. Dozens of homes were destroyed. Twenty two people are in the hospital being treated for storm-related injuries and at least five, including four children, are in critical condition.
It is up to us to help these people in any way that we can. Club President Doug Terhune and the Shallotte Rotary Club, along with Assistant Governor Brian Garrett, are “Leading The Way” in this effort. They will do the initial research so that we can provide financial assistance, clothing, food, and shelter for those in critical need. I am committing the Greentree Inn, our hotel in Wilmington, for emergency shelter.
We will accept support, ideas, resources and assistance from any of our Rotarians in the district. Please consider how you can help and contact me by e-mail or on my cell phone. Thank you.
Lead the Way!
