Inbound Scholar from Bangladesh - Mohammad Aminul Karim

This fall, Mohammad Aminul Karim will be coming to our district from Bangladesh as an Inbound Ambassadorial Scholar to study at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke working toward an MBA.

Sandy Waterkotte of the Rotary Club of Lumberton and Vice Chancellor for Advancement at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke has stepped up to serve as Mohammad’s host counselor. Thank you to Sandy for Leading the Way! Many thanks also go to District Scholar Chair Magda Baggett for your dedicated service to our Ambassadorial Scholars and to our district.

For the past four years, Mohammad Aminul Karim has been an Assistant Professor and Lecturer for the Department of Finance and Banking at the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh. Mohammad is 30 years old and is married. He earned a Bachelors of Business Administration and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chittagong.

Mohammad has an excellent command of the English language and is an excellent presenter. He possesses great compassion for the poor and illiterate, a strong will to work toward better world understanding and peace, and respect for cultural differences.

We encourage you to invite Mohammad to speak to your Rotary club. You can arrange a program by contacting Sandy Waterkotte at 910-521-6252 or sandy.waterkotte@uncp.edu . Your contributions to the Rotary Foundation make this opportunity possible for Mohammad and for us.

The Rotary Foundation application deadline for donor (inbound) scholarships is always very early. For me it was March 2005, while I was getting started in my training as Governor Nominee. Special thanks to Governor Phil Crawford who gave me an early heads-up on this opportunity and who authorized the necessary Rotary Foundation “District Designated Funds” from the 2005-06 Rotary year to make this happen.

Spring Training
Special Recognition to the following Rotary Clubs for having the best turn-out at Spring Training:
· Rotary Club of Morehead City Noon – 8 Rotary leaders

Thank you, Rotary leaders, for your commitment to a quality year for your clubs!

Looking forward to seeing you all this week at District Conference.

Lead the Way!
