Be a hands-on Rotarian. Join me, and join PDG Elias Thomas III of Rotary District 7780 Maine USA for this National Immunization Day when millions of people in India receive the vaccine against polio. During this same trip, PDG Thomas is planning a cooperative project with Rotarians in New Delhi, District 3010, to assist a poor Muslim village about 50 kilometers west of New Delhi. This will be Elias’ 7th trip as an NID leader. Buy Books and Help the Boys & Girls Home
You can buy books, CDs, and DVDs from Barnes and Noble through our District website. 2% to 3% of what we spend will go to the Rotary Cottage at the Boys and Girls Home in Lake Wacammah. Check out the home page of our website – www.rotary7730.org and look for the Barnes and Noble link. Thank you to Lori Goodell and the Wilmington Rotary Club for sharing this great idea!
Get Ready for RYLA – January 26-28, 2007
District 7730’s RYLA Committee encourages all clubs to immediately begin their search for qualified Delegates/Alternates (High School Juniors/11th graders). Meet with high school teachers and counselors to discuss the suggested criteria for selection. Completed applications along with payment of $250.00 for each participant are due by December 20, 2006. Applications may be found on District 7730’s website. Only applications that are completed in their entirety along with payment will be accepted.
The RYLA Conference will be held on Jan. 26-28, 2007, once again at the Trinity Center in Pine Knoll Shores. RYLA is a great opportunity for Rotary to recognize the “best of the best” in each of our communities. In doing so RYLA also demands “more” from each delegate. Examples of “more” would be 100% attendance at all events during the 3 day event (no exceptions), established dress code, strict travel rules that don’t allow delegate/alternate vehicles, and complete understanding of RYLA Standards.
More information on the website – www.rotary7730.org –, in the Nov. edition of THE ROTARY LEADER, or by contacting District RYLA chair Keith King, kking@monrovia.com

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week
Brought to you each week by PDG Bevin Wall, District Rotary Foundation Chair; and reproduced courtesy of www.rotary.org
This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about the SHARE system.
Through SHARE, Rotary districts share in the decision making process by choosing which Rotary Foundation programs they wish to support and participate in. Fifty cents of every dollar contributed to the Annual Programs Fund is returned to the district in the form of District Designated Funds (DDF). DDF can be used by the district and clubs to fund Ambassadorial Scholars, Group Study Exchanges, Matching Grants, and District Simplified Grants. The other half of the funds raised through APF-SHARE, remain in the World Fund for matches to Matching Grants, funding for 3-H Grants and the yearly Group Study Exchange award.
When you make a contribution the Annual Programs Fund you are helping support worthy Foundation projects all over the world and also in your own community.
For more information on giving or program participation, contact PDG Bevin Wall District 7730 Rotary Foundation Chair at Bevin@RLI33.org.
Lead the Way!
