Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)

The time to register your emerging leaders for the Rotary Leadership Institute is NOW!

There has been a change in venue for the Sept. 23 RLI. Rather than in Wilson NC, the RLI will be at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenville NC. Parts I and II are offered.

October 14, RLI, Part I, will be offered at the NCSU Center for Marine Sciences-Tech in Morehead City.

Rotary Presidents:

Honor 2 of your emerging leaders by sending them to RLI. The cost is $85 per each member you send which includes registration, materials and lunch. Your members will return energized and with an array of creative ideas for your club. (Sending 2 to RLI is a requirement for the District Star Club Recognition.)

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week

Brought to you each week by PDG Bevin Wall, District Rotary Foundation Chair; and reproduced courtesy of www.rotary.org

This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about Group Study Exchange.

Group Study Exchange is an educational program that promotes international understanding through organized travel and personal contact. This program provides travel grants for teams of young professional men and women to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members study the host countries institutions and ways of life, observe their professions practiced abroad and develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas. Many worthwhile matching grant projects have resulted form Group Study Exchange team members seeing a need in another country and using the vast Rotary network. Only with our continued support will we be able fund these valuable exchanges.

For more information on giving or program participation, contact PDG Bevin Wall District 7730 Rotary Foundation Chair at Bevin@RLI33.org.

Get Ready for RYLA – January 26-28, 2007

District 7730’s RYLA Committee encourages all clubs to immediately begin their search for qualified Delegates/Alternates (High School Juniors/11th graders). Meet with high school teachers and counselors to discuss the suggested criteria for selection. Completed applications along with payment of $250.00 for each participant are due by December 20, 2006. Applications may be found on District 7730’s website. Only applications that are completed in their entirety along with payment will be accepted.

The RYLA Conference will be held on Jan. 26-28, 2007, once again at the Trinity Center in Pine Knoll Shores. RYLA is a great opportunity for Rotary to recognize the “best of the best” in each of our communities. In doing so RYLA also demands “more” from each delegate. Examples of “more” would be 100% attendance at all events during the 3 day event (no exceptions), established dress code, strict travel rules that don’t allow delegate/alternate vehicles, and complete understanding of RYLA Standards.

More information on the website – www.rotary7730.org –, in the Sept. edition of THE ROTARY LEADER, or by contacting District RYLA chair Keith King, kking@monrovia.com
