Monday Morning - September 4
September 3rd, 2006 in Monday Morning“All Quality Clubs, Everyone Involved”
2007-08 Ambassadorial Scholars have been selected!
The District Ambassadorial Scholar Committee chose a new direction this year by selecting TWO Cultural Scholars to study abroad for 6 months of intensive language training and cultural immersion at a language training institution. (Typically, our district chooses ONE Academic Ambassadorial Scholar who studies abroad for at least one regular academic year.) Our scholars were chosen among six well qualified candidates, our largest pool of candidates in recent history.
Tim Carnes, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wilmington, hopes to study at the American University Arabic Language Institute in Cairo, Egypt. Tim is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Marquette U. in Milwaukee and served as Second Lieutenant and combat platoon commander in the Marine Corps in Iraq.
Jessica Hutzul, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fayetteville, will graduate from Methodist College with honors earning two BS degrees in Athletic Training and in Applied Exercise Science with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry (pre-med). Jessica plans to study in France. After her studies in France on the Ambassadorial Scholarship, Jessica will apply to medical school.
Thank you to the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee, Magda Baggett (Chair), PDG Phil Crawford, PDG Bevin Wall, and Larry Curtis for your service to our scholars and to Rotary and to DGE Wilson Ray for your approval of the Ambassadorial Scholar slate.

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week:
Brought to you each week by PDG Bevin Wall, District Rotary Foundation Chair; and reproduced courtesy of www.rotary.org
This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about The Annual Programs Fund and the effort to gain the support of Every Rotarian, Every Year.
The Annual Programs Fund is the primary source of unrestricted support for the programs of the Rotary Foundation. It funds programs in 168 countries on seven continents with projects ranging from digging clean water wells for villages in Africa to teaching basic literacy skills to children in Latin America. During any given moment in a day, thousands of Rotarians volunteer their time and expertise to ensure that all contributions given to The Annual Programs Fund are spent wisely on quality Rotary projects. If Every Rotarian, Every Year makes a gift to the Annual Programs Fund, we will be able to continue the great work of our Rotary Foundation.
For more information on giving or program participation, contact PDG Bevin Wall District 7730 Rotary Foundation Chair at Bevin@RLI33.org.
