“Reach for the Stars–Learn About Rotary”

Weekly updates–As Governor, I will continue to send out on Monday a weekly news update. This continues a practice started by our Centennial Governor Russ LaBelle and was carried forward by Governor Jay. The update will address current and very short term events that have happened or about to happen across the District. I will send it via E-mail to our Club Presidents, our District Leadership Team and to our Past District Governors. So please share this information with your Club members. It will not replace the monthly newsletter which will be published the first week of each month. If you have trouble receiving this E-mail let me know and I’ll adjust on my end within my very limited computer capabilities.

Rotary Shares

This is our RI Theme for the coming Rotary year. The statement itself clearly defines the very essence of what we, as Rotarians, do every day. I hope by now as an incoming Rotary leader you have considered seriously how we all can better share our talents, our time and our resources. Please incorporate this theme into everything you do during the coming weeks and months.

In Passing, PDG Lee Hauser

PDG Lee died at home in Fayetteville on 21 June after a short illness. He was our District’s Senior PDG (1968-1969) and served actively as a member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club from 1938 until his death. He was an outstanding Rotarian and was a WW II Veteran. He was 93–we will miss him greatly. Cards can be sent to his surviving wife Bonnie at 2308 Gunston Court, Fayetteville, NC 28303.

District Governor Installation

District Governor Installation will be on 12 July in Lumberton, NC. Everyone is invited. Personal invitations were sent to our Club Presidents, Presidents-Elect, Leadership Team, and Past District Governors. Please share them with your Club members because they are invited, too. Just let us know who is coming so we can be prepared. We can collect money at the door. For more information contact PDG Johnny Robertson at 910-843-5211 or 910-843-2802.

Annual Programs Fund of the Rotary Foundation

We are close to making history in our District by attaining $100.00 per member in contributions. We need every Rotarian and Club to do their part to send in those contributions they been collecting NOW, so that they will credit to this Rotary year! Please don’t wait any longer–contributions must be postmarked not later than 30 June 2007.

District Newsletter Items

Please send them to me at bronco549@aol.com, FAX to 910-843-8114 or mail P.O. Box 53, Red Springs, NC 28377. Almost everything that happens across our District happens in our Clubs–we have lots to report so please keep the information coming.

Another outstanding event for Rotarians from around the world. Some 20-plus Rotarians from our District were there as were 17,000 Rotarians from 140 other countries. Much more on this will be in the next District Newsletter.

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week

This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about year-end contributions.

The Rotary year ends on 30 June and all contributions must be postmarked on or before that date to be credited for this Rotary year. We are encouraged to collect and submit year-end contributions in late May and early June to count towards our Club’s annual giving goal. This will ensure proper credit and recognition for the Rotary year.

On behalf of the program beneficiaries, The Rotary Foundation thanks us for our ongoing support, enabling us to fund so many worthy projects.

For more information on giving or program participation, contact our District Rotary Foundation Chair, PDG Bevin Wall at Bevin@RLI33.org.
