“Rotary Shares” — Rotary International (2007 - 2008)

August is Membership and Extension Month

Recognize and reward club members who nominate candidates. Reward systems can be as simple as placing a gold star on Rotarian’s name badges. District 4160 (Mexico) adopted a plan to offer Paul Harris Fellow Recognition to anyone who brought in five new club members. RI President Wilf Wilkinson also has created a new member sponsor pin to recognize those club members who bring in a new member. The pin and tabs, which indicate the number of members sponsored, can be ordered from our Rotary-licensed vendors. And remember Club Presidents–President Wilf challenged all of this year’s leaders to bring in a new member. And he gave me a sponsor pin to give to each of you who bring in a new member. Just let me know when you want me to show up and pin it on you. For more information about membership contact our District Membership Chair, PDG Johnny Robertson by
E-mail johnsfuel@earthlink.net or 910-843-5211,

Membership Seminars

Two District seminars will be held this year–one in Fayetteville on 12 September and one in the Jacksonville area on

Our District Goals and RLI

One our District Goals this year is that every club send at least two Rotarians to The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI). This is a fantastic three part adventure in Rotary learning–and it costs a club only $85.00 to send a Rotarian to each part. Each part is only one day long. Send your new Rotarians and you’ll be amazed at how much they learn. It is a contagious experience. For schedule and registration information go to www.RLI33.org.

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week

This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is a reminder about why we support our Fondation.

Each day, Rotary clubs on every continent are working to improve the living conditions and health of their fellow local and global citizens. We share in the pride of the success of our own projects, but we also take pride in the work that is done around the world under the Rotary banner. Whether it’s a massive project like polio, or something smaller, like providing clean water to an elementary school in The Philippines, we take pride in knowing that our fellow Rotarians are doing everything possible to extend peace throughout the world.

Our contributions to the Annual Programs Fund deliver hope throughout the world.

For more information on giving or program participation, contact our District Foundation Chairman, PDG Bevin Wall at Bevin@RLI33.org.
