“Rotary Shares” — Rotary International (2007 - 2008)

“Reach For The Stars — Learn About Rotary”

Every month is Membership and Extension Month

Remember that new members are the very link to the Rotary we now know and is the only guarantee that our proud organization will continue for another 100 years. Make it your goal today to bring in a new member–and you will be remembered forever by the person you sponsored. Don’t wait for someone to walk up and say “I want to be a Rotarian” because it most likely will never happen. Take the initiative–somewhere in your community is someone who wants to be a Rotarian. Find that person, invite him or her to a meeting and invite them to join. For more information about membership contact our District Membership Chair, PDG Johnny Robertson by E-mail johnsfuel@earthlinjk.net or 910-843-5211.

District Speakers Bureau

One of our District Goals this year is that every club invite as a program at least one person from the District Speakers Bureau. You can find this list of speakers at our District web site www.rotary7730.org. Click on the Speakers Bureau link and you’ll be amazed at the list of Rotarians across our District who are eagerly awaiting your call–invite them to speak to your club about a variety of subjects.

Late Club Attendance Reports

Rotary International requires that all Rotary Clubs submit attendance reports each month not later than the 15th of the month. The following clubs have not submitted their reports for August–LaGrange; Tabor City; Bladenboro; and Garland. Club Presidents and Secretaries, please see that these reports are submitted.

Club News Needed

I need your club news so I can share it with other Rotarians in our District. I know you are proud of the things that you and your club do so let us be proud of it with you. Send the news to me at bronco549@aol.com, FAX 910-843-5114, or P.O. Box 53, Red Springs, NC 28377. Give it to me and I’ll do the rest.

Invite, Inform, and Induct

The Rotary Club of Driffield, England, invited 40 prospective club members to a dinner and informational meeting. More than a third of the invitees attended and eight joined the club. In South Africa, the Rotary Club of Pretoria-Hatfield organized a “get to know Rotary” evening that featured talks and videos about community, vocational, and international projects. As a result, four people joined.

Rotary Foundation Thought of the Week

This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about PolioPlus Partners.

PolioPlus Partners is a special program created in 1995 to allow Rotarians in polio-free countries to partner with Rotarians in polio-endemic countries by providing support for National Immunization Days and other critical activities. Over $33 million has been contributed to over 400 projects since then. There is still a need today. The Partners program allows Rotarians to support a specific project to apply donations to the highest priority.

A list of Open Projects in need of funding is available on the Rotary website. These projects support our fellow Rotarians in the last battles against polio. Please consider giving them you support.

For more information on giving or program participation, contact our District Foundation Chairman, PDG Bevin Wall at Bevin@RLI33.org.
