“Reach For The Stars — Learn About Rotary”

Continue to Stress Membership

RI President Wilf Wilkinson was right when he said in the August Rotarian Magazine– “A new generation of Rotarians is essential to every club, and to Rotary. In Some parts of the world, our clubs are thriving, and new ones are forming. But in others, clubs are aging and doing little to attract new members. As members leave, there is no one to replace them — and when a club disappears, there is no one to take on the work that’s left undone.” Lets all “Lead the Way” by “Taking the Lead” on membership–invite someone new to your Rotary today. For more information or more ideas contact our District Membership Chairman, PDG Johnny Robertson at E-mail johnsfuel@earthlink.net or telephone 910-843-5211.

District Speaker’s Bureau, Members Needed

Our Speaker’s Bureau is a valuable resource that puts Rotary programs at our fingertips. You can find it at www.rotary7730.org. But, we need to add more members to this group. If you have knowledge in an area that you are willing to share with our District Clubs and members, please contact our District Trainer, Bob Stinson (910-575-1286) or E-mail bob@plangoals.com to get you name on this speaker’s list.

The Four-Way Test–The Ethical Cruciverbalist

Vic Fleming had never heard of The Four-Way Test when he was named the winner of his high school’s Four-Way Test Award in 1967. (He won it again the next year.) Today, Fleming is a member of the Rotary Club of Little Rock, Ark., USA; a district judge; and the creator of The Rotarian’s monthly crossword puzzle. For his take on the test, have a crack at the puzzle on page 56 of this month’s magazine.

More About Membership

Don’t let up on this critical task–Consider creating business cards printed with your name, the Rotary logo, and the phrase “Be My Guest,” along with the day, time, and location of your club’s meetings. The cards serve as an invitation to attend a club meeting at the club’s expense.

Thank You, Thank You Kinston Rotary Club–for your recent contribution of $1365.00 to the Full Belly Project.

Weekly Rotary Foundation Fundraising Strategy

Supplement Your Quarterly Dues With a Rotary Foundation Contribution–Want to keep it really easy and simple? Include an option on the quarterly dues statement for personal contributions to TRF. The most successful clubs include varying amounts ($25, $50, $100, $250 per quarter). Make sure to regularly mention current district projects so members are reassured their contributions are well spent. When new members join the club, they’re started off in the same way, assuring 100% participation by all members.

Give “Every Rotarian, Every Year” the opportunity to support our Rotary Foundation. For more information on devising a strategy for your club or on district giving or program participation, contact our District Foundation Chairman, PDG Bevin Wall at Bevin@RLI33.org.
