Bevin is an Attorney in Newport, North Carolina, USA with an emphasis in the areas of real estate, bankruptcy and criminal defense law. A Newport native, he received his B.A. from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg and his law degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is past-president of the Carteret County Bar, and member of many legal and professional associations.

In Rotary, Bevin currently serves Zone 33 Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) as Board of Directors Vice-Chair, Curriculum & Materials Coordinator, and Web Editor/ Database Manager. He was a founding member of the organization in 2003 which serves the geographic area of West Virginia through South Carolina, and the Southern Caribbean.

In 2005 he was appointed by President Karl-Wilhelm Stenhammar as RI Membership Zone Coordinator for Zone 33, and was reappointed by RI President Bill Boyd again in 2006-07. He was also appointed by Director Milt Jones to serve as Entertainment Chair for the 2006 Rotary Institute in Orlando, Florida where he has been a Committee Chairperson in each year since being eligible to serve. Bevin is a frequent Carolinas’ PETS Discussion Leader and will be a one again in 2007, He has instructed in numerous PETS, District Assemblies, and other training seminars and events across the Southeast United States.

In District 7730 (Southeast North Carolina) he current serves as District Rotary Foundation Chairperson, District Finance Chair, and the past District Trainer. As District Foundation (Emergency Fund) Chair and Trustee, he has coordinated district relief efforts for Hurricanes Floyd & Katrina.

As District 7730 Governor in 2002-03 he created a statewide coalition of Rotarians, The Rotary Foundation, government agencies & NGOs to promote immunization issues in the Hispanic community; attended the District 3280 District Conference in support of GSE in Bangladesh, established e-communication among district leaders, held a successful joint District Conference Cruise to the Bahamas with District 7750 (South Carolina, USA), and doubled his district’s giving to The Rotary Foundation.

Bevin began his Rotary experience as a child attending Newport Rotary Club functions with his father, who was Past President of the club. He joined the Newport Rotary Club in 1988, and was President in 1992-93. He has served in many club leadership roles.

Bevin & his wife, Pam, are both Rotarians, Paul Harris Fellows, Sustaining Members, Benefactors and Major Donors of The Rotary Foundation, and Charter Members of the District 7730 Paul Harris Society. A recipient of The Rotary Foundation District Service Award and the District 7730 Service Above Self Award, he is a 2006 recipient of the RI Service Above Self Award, Rotary International’s highest honor for individual Rotarians recognizing personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary.

Bevin and Pam have 3 incredible children at home, Megan (18), McKenzie (15) & Madison (12). They are very supportive of and participate in their parents’ “Rotary life”.

In other civic endeavors, Bevin has led as Board Chair a 7 county anti-poverty agency administering youth & aged programs, served on the Board of a 10 county legal services organization, and served his church as legal counsel, Staff-Parish Chair and Assistant Choir Director. He loves to sing and has been a member of the world traveled Carteret Chorale for over 18 years. A member of the Rotary Fellowship of Musicians, he played Rotary founding member Gus Loher in “Rotary – The Musical” at the most recent District 7730 Conference.
