How to Proceed
1. If desired, ask another club/s to join your project to assist financially and with the work involved.
2. Contact the school superintendent and explain the idea and get his/her blessing.
i.e.: A Webster’s Encyclopedia Dictionary to be given to each child in he 3rd grade–theirs to keep. This will be repeated each school year.
3. Obtain list of elementary schools and number of 3rd grade students expeced for the 2001-02 school year.
4. Contact Mary L. French of the “Dictionary Project” and give number of books required, for what county and state and when. Request confirmation of book and freight costs. (P.O. Box 1845, Charleston, S.C. 29402).
5. In writing, order books from Mrs. French, enclosing check and directions for delivery.
6. Send letters to all elementary school principals telling them of the dictionary project and approximate delivery time.
7. When books are delivered at the central point, gather a group of about eight people to stick labels in books and box them according to the number needed at each school.

8. Arrange day and time for delivery to each school. Make sure you have enough people (2 per school) to go and hand out books personally in each class. Include your Interact students.
9. Give your club/s plenty of Media coverage.
10. You will be amazed at the response to this project from the school board, teachers, and parents. You will also have great personal satisfaction in the whole idea.
