| August 2008 Presidents | Start your planning. Get help from your Assistant Governors & District RAD Chair |
| September 2009 | Introduce the Drug & Alcohol Prevention Speech Contest to the high schools. Send a letter to the School Superintendent and principals explaining the contest and inviting schools to participate. Include private schools. |
| October 2009 | This is a good time to visit each high school to make sure they will participate, identify the school’s representative, and see if they need assistance. Be sure they know where to find the RAD Resource Materials (below). Give the counselor the Resource CD and have applications for students to complete.Applications — Be sure each student submits an application for each contestant at least 2 weeks prior to your contest. Prepare Participation Certificates for each student. |
| January 2010 | Contact the school representative. This is a good time to offer assistance. Remind the representative the importance of submitting the application on time. Monitor progress. |
| February 1, 2010 | All area RAD contests need to be completed by this date with applications for top 4 area finalists sent to District Chair. |
| March 14th, 2010 | The District RAD speech contest will be held at James Sprunt Community College, Kenansville, NC, 2pm. |
| March 21th, 2010 | The Multi-District RAD speech contest will be held at Town Hall, Chapel Hill, NC, for the district finalists. |
