Rotary International District 7730
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Trinity Center, Pine Knoll Shores, NC
Rotary District 7730 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a 46 hour intensive training program for 100 high school juniors that have been selected (awarded) by their high school administrators, sponsoring Rotary Clubs, and community leaders for their leadership skills in their schools and communities. These delegates will listen to trained speakers, educators, counselors, and Rotarians throughout the last weekend in January. The purpose of District 7730’s RYLA is to improve leadership skills, build communication skills, learn more about Rotary, and enjoy fellowship with peers. While doing so each delegate will also be having fun and making new friends that will be cherished for a lifetime.
RYLA gives each delegate an opportunity to:
- Develop leadership skills
- Increase self-confidence
- Gain exposure to a variety of issues and people
- Make new friends
- Obtain career information and skills
- Meet community leaders and mentors
Several highlights of the RYLA weekend are:
- “Exploring Personalities” – Personality Profile
- “Rotary’s Leadership and Opportunities” – presented by a fellow Rotarian
- Evening Socials - DJ, Dancing, Pizza!
- “Culture Walk” – a powerful program breaking the barriers of culture
- Rotary “4 Way Test” – presented by Rotarian Mr. Albert Gaskill
- “Leadership, Time Management, Goal Setting, and Attitudes”
- Sunday Devotional (optional)
- Field Trip to Coast Guard Station Fort Macon or NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores
- “How to Reduce Stress, Strive, and Thrive with Humor”
